Last week I was blessed to have family and friends visit me in Nashville. My parents and brother and sis-in-law all flew in on Thursday! After the conference wrapped up Thursday evening Olivia and I went to dinner with mom and dad at a lovely restaurant downtown, Merchant’s. Then we hungout at Dad’s favorite Tootsie’s of course.
Merchant’s dessert is amazing.
Friday, Olivia had to fly home… So we did a little drive thru around Vanderbilt and midtown then took her to the airport. Once we got back to my apartment our friends, the Thompson’s had made it to town too! I took all the girls down to the farmer’s market to show off what I talk about so much! We got some fresh peaches and stocked back up on the amazing strawberry jelly! We all had dinner at a little steakhouse downtown, Demo’s, and it was fantastic. I had the lasagna… YUMM!
Well… My parents have been coming to Nashville for a long time, and they always griped because they said there was nowhere good to eat. My dad is now in LOVE with Merchant’s we had it again on Saturday for lunch so Casey and Sara could join us! We spent the majority of the day hanging out at Tootsie’s listening to the wonderful live music. They truly do have the best music in town!
Love you, Brother!
Love you, Daddy!

Sunday was relaxing waking up to my dad cooking breakfast and then just hanging out at my apartment. We drove out to Old Hickory Lake and looked around, it’s gorgeous. The water is so clear. Then it was off to bed early to get ready for the work week!
My parents flew home Monday morning.
So so thankful to have had visitors! Loved it so much!
Nashville for a few more weeks,
I had a sad realization this week that I’m half way done with my time here in Nashville. A month has already gone by somehow.
Maybe the title of this blog seems odd to you… but it serves two purposes. The first I want to tackle is comfy shoes. I’ve upped my workout regime significantly since moving to Nashville… yeah yeah… nobody cares, I know. But by doing this I made a discovery that I feel I should share. Girls…. The Nike Free’s are less than ideal for anything other than looking cute. Yeah, I know you don’t want to hear it… I didn’t either. But I started having some pains and spoke with my trainer about what was going on and he just laughed and told me to get some real shoes. So I went to a running store… let them awkwardly watch me run and got some REAL workout shoes (Brooks). Do yourself a favor and do the same. Wise words from the man who sold them to me… “If you don’t think they’re cute, just don’t look down at your feet while you’re running.”
Second purpose for “Lace Up The Comfy Shoes” would be going back to the point that I only have a month left in Nashville and SO many things to see! Going to require the comfy shoes for sure.
I laced them up this afternoon against my better judgement… this is the hottest day in Nashville this year. But regardless, I hit the streets. I live literally two blocks away from the state capitol. And it is absolutely gorgeous. And on the other side of the capitol is a huge park with the most amazing farmer’s market I have ever been to!
The next few days are going to be super busy! I’m headed to Louisville, Kentucky! I’ll tell you all about it next time!
I’ve always loved Nashville, so when I got the chance to move here for an internship it was a dream come true.
My parents and my sweet boyfriend offered to help me move. We made the 10 hour drive Monday and Tuesday and immediately started exploring when we got here. I’m getting to stay in a high rise apartment complex right in the heart of Downtown Nashville. It’s definitely a little different than Velma, Oklahoma. After we got moved in we headed straight for Broadway. Lunch at Rippy’s was BBQ, live music, and open windows The weather is gorgeous, sunny and in the low to mid 80s. After lunch we went to Tootsie’s, my dad’s favorite place in Nashville.

Wednesday I got to go to the station for the first time and meet Justin, the morning meteorologist I will be working with. It was quite a treat, the studio is gorgeous and everyone was extremely friendly. I’m obviously way excited to get started next week! Then it was time to get some groceries, as you can imagine my dad was calling me constantly saying “I’m hungry, I’m hungry!” We all piled in my car and went to the Farmer’s Market, I had done some research and couldn’t wait to get my groceries there. Fresh strawberries (to die for) jellies, pickles, everything you could need. After getting everything back up to my apartment (I park 6 floors below ground) it was back to Broadway for more live music! But, of course we had to make it back to my apartment in time to watch Nashville, the TV show!
Since we finally had groceries we had breakfast at home Thursday morning then it was off to explore! We toured Vanderbilt and Belmont then did a little shopping. We met a really nice sales associate at the mall who gave me an entire list of restaurants to try all around the city. We took his advice and went to the 12 South area to Burger Up. It’s in a super trendy “up and coming” part of town. The beef was all local and they made everything themselves including the ketchup! I apologize if you get hungry reading this, we did a lot of eating out this week. We had dinner downtown at Merchants, it was by far the most delicious place we’ve had in Nashville so far! Then it was time for a carriage ride through downtown with all the lights…
